REDWOODS

REDWOODS is a Portuguese music artist, producer and DJ based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In 2024, she founded the Below The Waves record label as a space for her sound to exist, and for others navigating similar dissonant and dreamlike sonic realms.

Her work moves through leftfield electronic and experimental club music, built on bass-heavy structures, ethereal synths and degraded, textural elements. Her sound shifts between the atmospheric and the gritty, drawing inspiration from Detroit electronic music, darkwave, miami bass and UK experimental scenes.

In 2024, she released her debut album Rapture , marking a defining step in her sonic identity and connecting her to the Mood Systems collective.

Alongside her studio work, REDWOODS performs live and DJs, and hosts the Ethereal Club radio show on Radio WORM. Besides music practice, she also designs her artwork and produces all her music videos.

In April 2026, REDWOODS, released "A Mirage"a 5-track EP : “’A Mirage’ is my second release. It came from a period of longing, of chasing something that always felt just ahead of me and out of reach, not even knowing if it truly existed…and eventually finding meaning in the journey there. My music-making process was very abstract, rarely following a fixed structure. I often create melodies through audio mangling, time-stretching and manipulating recordings of myself playing synths or using my voice. I work a lot with resampling and degradation to create texture and dissonance. The sounds I use are a mix of analogue synths such as the KORG DW8000, the Ibanez UE405 tape delay, granular synthesis VSTs, and distorted 808s and drum machines. I also sample my voice in unconventional ways, pitching, layering and reshaping it into something textural rather than purely melodic.’’

She is currently developing her live performances further and expanding Below The Waves as a platform for other artists working within similar sonic worlds.
